Business Accelerator Bioscience Wet Lab

As part of its long-term economic development strategy, Prosper Portland (formerly the Portland Development Commission) funded a new wet lab to support innovation in the bioscience industry. A major obstacle to start-up companies locating in Portland has been a lack of bioscience wet labs outfitted with fume hoods, autoclave sterilizers, water, and specialized piped utilities needed to analyze chemicals. Hennebery Eddy collaborated with Prosper Portland, Portland State University, Oregon Health & Science University, and the Oregon Bioscience Association on bioscience lab design for the 2,700-square-foot space, which includes six private wet labs centered around a common laboratory space. The large shared lab offers access to core equipment, allowing small start-up companies to put their limited resources toward research and development instead of expensive lab equipment. Located at the Portland State University Business Accelerator (PSBA), the space is leased to start-up companies researching new drugs, medical devices, and other chemical/biological innovations.
